Wedding Readings
At least one lesson from the Bible is read during a wedding service. If you wish, a friend or a member of the family may read, and it is important that the person you choose has a clear speaking voice and is confident and experienced enough to read the lesson well. A list of appropriate readings may be found here. Please note that only scriptural readings are permitted in the service.
Weddings
Designed by Henry Stuckey and built in 1849, Christ Church is a handsome Anglo-Norman building, characherised by its beautiful rounded arches. Built using local materials and stunningly decorated, Christ Church has been a favourite with brides since its earliest days.
After browsing our website, please come in and have a look at the church building or chat to one of our office staff. Once you've decided to be married at Christ Church, call in or phone us to book your wedding date. A deposit of $100 confirms the booking, so you can start planning your big day.

Decorating the Church
Your wedding fee includes one large floral arrangement on a pedestal and flowers in the Lady Chapel. If you wish to have more flowers, they may be arranged at your own expense, through the Rector. Please note that artificial flowers may only be used with the permission of the Rector.
Pew ends may be decorated if you wish. Often about 10 to 12 pews are used - one each side of every second pew. Pew ends must be secured with either ribbons or elastic.
Wedding Music
The Christ Church organist plays at all weddings. If you wish to have other musicians at your wedding, such as a trumpeter or choir, these costs must be met by you. Please discuss this with the Rector, who is able to put you in contact with musicians if desired. Many couples choose Wagner's wonderful Bridal March as their entry music, and Mendelssohn's Wedding March for the exit, but there are many great pieces which are appropriate to the occasion.
